There were no insinuations that you made things up, there were people saying that you misrepresented what was being said to you in order to play the victim. Your overreaction and misinterpretation of the PM as some sort of challenge just further my point, Brian, and you're still dwelling on it. Had you considered that the PM was because someone had noticed that you felt overwhelmed, so they PM'd you to make you feel less like you were being ganged up on?

This isn't the place for this discussion. If you're going to continue to reference how you were so terribly treated and bullied, maybe you should actually address the issue with the person themselves.

Come on Dante - that's the  pot calling the kettle black. Why not drop it? Keeping this up doesn't help.

I think people are different. Not everyone enjoys making every conversation into a wrestling-match. Sometimes people just like to share their ideas and opinions, and that is enough.

You're right, apologies.

Nah, you just need to imply that not all logic is bad when it comes to selecting topics for the podcast and that occasionally some academic rigor is actually a good thing. Or, you can go through the high road and criticize the way that science has been treated for a year+, basically that it is not really "wrong... about almost everything":

Either one will win you a time out.

Is it enough to create subforums for politics and/or conspiracy theories which are only visible to logged-in posters, and posts to which are kept out of the "View Unread Posts" list?

OK, let's try this a different way. :-)

Here's the proposed compromise-consensus:
  • We create two subforums under "Other Stuff". One is titled "Politics", the other "Conspiracy Theories".
  • Both forums are visible only to logged-in members.
  • Neither forum's posts show up in the "View Unread Posts" listing.
Aside from any minor changes such as to the proposed names of the forums, does anybody object to this proposed compromise-consensus?

If no objections are received within, let's say, five days, let's go with this.

I kinda hate to be that guy, but I'm going to object.

I'm still not sure what separates politics and CT from the sailing & beer forum suggestions?
