Perhaps there simply isn't enough interest. I know that the old sceptic versus proponent game can grow pointless very quickly. What I'd love to see is more activity in the 'personal experiences' section. That is something which always seems to bring some new insights. But taken from within a limited pool of members I guess that well soon runs dry?

I suspect it's more a question of the visibility of PsienceQuest rather than there not being enough interest in the subject.

But I suppose these things find their own level, and to my mind the important thing is that the site does provide a forum for those who are interested.

Just checked in and found this thread. To new here to comment on the community but I will say that it has become difficult to find a place to conduct meaningful discussions about things paranormal. I maintain a board for an association that is pretty much in mothballs, I think, because Facebook is a lot more fun.

I am no psychologist, but it seems to me that people have turned to the here now--gone in a few minutes social media as a way of satisfying the herd instinct without needing to be responsible for mindful discourse. I have a saying in a book to the effect:

The Way of Progression
Through community comes knowledge
Through teaching comes understanding
It takes a collective

This is one of the few places I have found that meaningful discussions occur. It would be a step backward for all of us if it closed. Conversely, it is for all of us to see that it does not.

Thanks for this. Since you're relatively new here, I take that as a vote of confidence from as close to a neutral, unbiased observer as we're likely to get.

I would imagine prophecy should be seen as a warning rather than a settled conclusion.  Welcome to the forum!

Just saw this thread, before ending anything in a permanent sense I feel obligated to mention resources like 7 Cups of Tea that might be service.

Of course there are other services out there, I do think how we leave this world affects how we experience the next one. As I such I have a moral obligation to mention this.

hope all is well,

Indeed, I might go further and say that how we condition our thinking throughout this life will likely carry over that transition so that we effectively create what we are to experience (though, on reflection, I suspect we are saying the same thing). I'm sure this relates in some ways to your thread on the seemingly less serious subject of the comedy show, The Good Place?
I do not make any clear distinction between mind and God. God is what mind becomes when it has passed beyond the scale of our comprehension.

Kamarling, not very many people see the relationship between how they think now and how that will shape their experiences after this lifetime. Even those who know the words seldom understand the meaning. Well said!

Spiritualists will sometimes say that what we do now will follow us for the rest of your existence–here and hereafter. In the Hermetic Schools, seekers are taught to examine their thinking to align it with the actual nature of reality. The idea is that we take understanding with us to the other side, and the more that is in agreement with actual reality, the more access we will have to the greater reality. Understanding tends to manifest as lucidity which some think of as spiritual maturity.

I even have an Organizing Principle for it: Principle of Perceptual Agreement -- Personality must be in perceptual agreement with the aspect of reality with which it will associate.

Platitudes, I suppose. The bottom line is, as you suggest, fear manifests fear, balance manifests balance.

None of this would have any effect on me as I would instinctively ask "how the hell can anybody know this?"  It's your faith, not mine!
