And another one with English subtitles.

She sounds like a good candidate for the AWARE study, describing her cardiac arrest and being defibrillated. Except that this happened in 1990 and instead of being interested in her experience, they brought a psychologist to explain that it was all an invention of her brain.

Die Nahtoderfahrung von Frau Nicole Aeberhard (Engl. subtitles)
This is a podcast by Australian "Geelong Advertiser" journalist, Harrison Tippet, about the near death experience phenomenon. It features stories from three men who's hearts all stopped suddenly (cardiac arrest). Only one (Sean Purcell) had a profound NDE and that begins at 21.52.

He apparently met a sister who'd died two months before he was born and although he doesn't go into detail about it, it's clear that he was with her and acquired knowledge about the place where she was buried etc.

These videos are worth watching if you've got a bit of time. Randy Schiefer contracted Covid in 2020 and was so deathly ill, he was placed into a medical coma and put on ecmo (type of heart-lung machine) to try to save his life, even though the doctors gave him about the same chance as Eben Alexander had (almost no chance of survival at all).

All his organs failed and during this extensive period of many days, he had a number of the elements of NDE or just NDE's as he says. He also had hallucinations and dreams but he is in no doubt about the difference. The NDE's are slightly atypical I suppose, although I have read of experiences very similarly described.

He explains (because of the obvious memory effects) that he doesn't know in what order they occurred, they don't follow the order in the Greyson scale, but I have little doubt that this man has seen something extraordinary. Formerly a complete atheist who was terrified of death, even though his job was dealing with it all the time (he was a forensic expert and special agent for the US air force and also has a degree in psychology). There is also a remarkable story of bringing back a message from someone he didn't even know to a young woman he didn't know either, that proved to be accurate.

It demonstrates the authenticity and power of these experiences. Schiefer has been changed one hundred and eighty degrees and completely lost his fear of death. Surely the sceptics are getting bored trying to explain them away.

Randy's experience was also featured on NPR's Up First a couple of days ago with some accompanying questions put to expert Bruce Greyson.

I hope I haven't posted this video before. I sort of feel like I have, so apologies if that is so. Am I allowed to say, this is how I think "it is" and how it "will be"? Of course, I may be falling prey to my own biases. So, it may not be how it is, at all.

Near-Death Experience | Josef Streisselberger, Austria (with English Voiceover) - YouTube

All Souls: Josef Streisselberger reports on his near-death experience (tips.at)  (You'll have to use the translate facility to read this short interview)

"I know now, we can't die, we have a consciousness, that's eternal and we can't talk about a life after death, because in my experience there is no death, there is only a transition to another sphere, to another dimension, to a disembodied consciousness – you could say there is a life after physical life."

"Through a near-death experience, however, one experiences exactly the opposite – that we are not a physical being, but a spiritual being – we have a body but we are not our body, we are mind and consciousness."

I can use my imagination to try and get an idea of how this might feel but I wish I knew what a spiritual being actually is. Do you know ? If you don't, I'll ask Laird. Somebody on here must know....[Image: wink.png]
Sounds like spiritual being=a non-physical being (you without your body) is good for starters!

A portion of consciousness, one might say. I think I prefer the old fashioned soul. It winds up the sceptics more  [Image: biggrin.png]

Certainly a very powerful NDE, recounted very clearly and in detail by a technical/scientific person used to clear thinking.

One thing that struck me about this was his recounting how he was communicated with by his higher self or soul. The clear implication of this is at least apparently what I have contended for some time, that for several reasons the human self and the soul must be different, separate beings, with the human self presumably temporary in some sense. Here's a first-hand account that seems to confirm this separateness, where both beings simultaneously exist and communicate with each other. This experience of communication came up at about 5:10 or so in the talk.
