Paranormal Experiences Come From Another Dimension, Claims Scientist

Professor Bernard Carr is a professor of mathematics and astronomy at the Queen Mary University of London. He studied under Stephen Hawking and earned his doctorate at Cambridge. This is not a man to make up mumbo-jumbo to gain attention, nor is he in the habit of spouting half-baked theories about ghosts and aliens fabricated from baseless speculation.

So when Professor Carr says that paranormal activity is real and that it's actually happening in another dimension, it's important not to dismiss him as yet another conspiracy theorist trying to become internet famous.

In a talk at the Euro-PA Conference, Carr explained why we shouldn't be too quick to dismiss so-called paranormal events. Carr believes that there's a hierarchical structure to the dimensions – many of which we cannot perceive – but that the human consciousness is able to periodically perceive events that are occurring on planes of existence that we are otherwise usually unable to interpret.

Isn't that dimension what psychics call the astral plane?

It's also the same plane that psychics say our astral body exists on, that OBErs explore, and that NDErs immediately experience before anything else, but most people simply cannot sense it without training their mind properly.

Bernard Carr's commentary in the latest issue of the Journal for Scientific Exploration is worth reading. It's entitled "Blind Watchers of Psi: A Rebuttal of Reber and Alcock," but for the most part it's a discussion of the relationship between physics and parapsychology - the causes of scepticism about psi among physicists, the reasons why dialogue between the two is desirable, and the scope for expanded models of physics capable of embracing consciousness and psi:

Dreams, Hyperspace, and Levitation

The dream state is often connected with paranormal events.  Joseph of Copertino’s ecstatic levitations are a major challenge to physics.How is levitation possible?  Joseph would say: Love God in heaven and fly!  According to physicist Hal Putoff, Einstein proved levitation was possible by showing that space and time are not absolutes.  Physical space can be bent, is malleable, i.e, by change of mass. But how Joseph or Saint Teresa of Avila in a state if ecstasy bend physical space and suspend gravity—in short, levitate—that remains a mystery.

Nobody is astonished by flying dreams. Joseph dreaming that he levitates is acceptable to established science.  But how do we explain his public, apparently physical levitations?  Suppose that people who witnessed Joseph levitate were actually viewing his dream that he was levitating.  That would be possible if we assume that when Joseph went into ecstasy his dream space and the physical space of his witnesses blend into one complex space, in which the properties of both spaces were retained. Joseph, we can say, achieved a certain inner mental state (ecstasy) that caused the transient compaction of dream space and physical space.

Physicist Bernard Carr has developed a theory of hyperspace that integrates mind and matter and accounts for our higher mental life, mystical and paranormal. What  got me thinking was Carr’s notion that two distinct dimensions of space and their distinct properties could be compacted into one new dimension, in which the properties of each are retained. Joseph thus behaves as if in a dream before the waking eyes of astonished spectators.  The explanation I’m suggesting implies the possibility of the welding together of dream space and waking physical space...
