I’ve no idea what that is, but I definitely wouldn’t be surprised if Carter Beauford has it too.  Wink

I love this vid.

I love this vid.

Nice vid. I also wouldn't be surprised if he had it, but in the case of that video itself I think I'd be more inclined to call his beats "syncopated" than "polyrhythmic".
‘King Amazing talent + hard work.   Praying hands

Some South African jazz. I heard this tune and loved it almost twenty years ago. Ever since I've been trying to remember the bloody thing's name. All to no avail. Then, the night before last, I'm watching my nephew on the other side of the world doing his final music degree performance..... and he plays it!

Good things come to all those who wait (and wait, and wait).

Rejoice, spirits!

Which instrument does your nephew play? I’m guessing trumpet, or trombone?

Trumpet’s a weird one for me, usually it doesn’t do anything for me, but occasionally it’s just the perfect instrument.

He's a drummer, actually.  Smile But had to play band leader on this occasion.

I'm partial to a bit of trumpet at times.... it can be very emotive. Saxophone, too. C'mon, give it a blow.

We barely remember
Who or what came before this precious moment
We are choosing to be here, right now
Hold on, stay inside

This holy reality
This holy experience
Choosing to be here in...

This body, this body holding me
Be my reminder here that I am not alone in...
This body, this body holding me
Feeling eternal, this pain is an illusion

Alive!
In this holy reality
In this holy experience
Choosing to be here in...

This body, this body holding me
Be my reminder here that I am not alone in...
This body, this body holding me
Feeling eternal, all this pain is an illusion

Twirling 'round with this familiar parabola
Spinning, weaving 'round each new experience
Recognize this as a holy gift and
Celebrate this chance to be alive and breathing
A chance to be alive and breathing

This body holding me reminds me of my own mortality
Embrace this moment, remember
We are eternal, all this pain is an illusion
Hadn't seen the video to that before, Hurm. Very curious, and, for me, as with all Tool video clips, kind of disturbing.

Which leads me to...

...a powerful interpretation of the classic Simon and Garfunkel song by - well, you'll see how I was led there.
Just randomly discovered these guys in this video via YouTube's play next feature. It's a long vid, but you'll soon enough know whether you like it enough to watch it to the end - the quality doesn't change.
