If time is an illusion there would be no real change...
But the illusion we exist in where there seems to be time is changing...
'Historically, we may regard materialism as a system of dogma set up to combat orthodox dogma...Accordingly we find that, as ancient orthodoxies disintegrate, materialism more and more gives way to scepticism.'

Yep. The claim that "time is an illusion" seems to have similar, though not quite as strong, refutations as "consciousness is an illusion".

I think this needs re-reading a few times to let it sink in.
I think I agree but maybe I'm misunderstanding the point which, as far as I can tell, is that existing in the illusion means that we can't conceive of anything other than that which we experience. I tend to think that time may be the way that consciousness orders events but that it is as much a creation of mind as is the physical world that we experience as solid.
I do not make any clear distinction between mind and God. God is what mind becomes when it has passed beyond the scale of our comprehension.

Heh if everyone was like me we'd probably be going backwards!
