I think I must have been absent during his reign. Was it good...or not good?

Yeah, that was back in 2015 and you were in a hiatus IIRC. He gave us his best impression of Thor and then quit. It would have been unsettling if it wasn't so hilarious. I never had issues with Andy, but until Laird was promoted, I thought that Alex just liked that kind of user as sysop.

Yeah, the power just got to his head. Big time.

You'll have to re-phrase some of that for me, E Flowers I don't get what you're trying to say, but maybe that's because I'm English and I haven't seen enough of the world.

Conversely, that last post seems right up Max's alley.

He basically threatened to ban anyone that misbehaved (he waved the "ban hammer" around, like Thor does with Mjolnir), was met with heavy backlash and then posted a resignation thread in which he said that he was no longer that interested in psi... Because he was going to pursue a career as a comedian and had self-assessed that he had the talent to go professional.

Thanks, understood.

I appreciate its more work, just seems a missed opportunity if you stop here. Sure psiencequest will generate that rich content slowly overtime, but it's going to be slow. I'm guessing AT has realised the importance of the traffic which the forums bring in.

I'll probably reconstruct the Resource Threads naturally, but I was thinking it might be more organic to post some of the articles/essays/etc in their own threads to let there be more discussion.

Glad to see Craig is still fighting the good fight.

I don't know, guys, it just seems "off" to me to be mirroring Skeptiko forums that are still available at Skeptiko, not to mention disrespectful to Alex. It also might have the opposite than intended effect: as best I understand, Google's algorithms can punish sites for plagiarised content, which they might decide our mirror is.

As I recall Alex did not care about the "underbelly" of Skeptiko, so much so that he thought deleting threads he praised you just a few months previous for painstakingly curating wasn't a big deal and anyone caring that much was being childish?

I don't want to create extra work for you or anyone else, or mess with Google's algos though. But IMO Alex should just take down the forums we as a community built and let us post the content here, since by his own admission he didn't take part in it.

It seems like you feel strongly about this, Sci. Tell you what, if you or anybody else can convince Alex to stick with his original idea to delete the forums, then I will happily put in the extra work of mirroring them here in HTML format based on the scrapes I already have (in JSON format). I just feel... uncomfortable... dragging traffic away from Skeptiko, which is suffering enough for the mistakes of its founder already, not to mention the potential issue I mentioned about Google penalising us for plagiarism.
