The Skeptiko post-trauma thread

Perhaps we need to look at how we could get the scraped content of threads back as individual html pages for each thread with the least effort?

Nothing fancy... as the html file I scraped of my own posts using Lairds scraper program is more than acceptable. Just needs some of Lairds wizardy to parse the data again in date/time order, and extract each post and appended it to separate html pages, one html page for each thread with the the same title?

Then perhaps replace all the internal skeptiko URLs to point at psieincequest.net/forums and remove all the skeptiko branding... I say just... but it's probably a bit of work.

I know a lot of internal links will be lost, but it's really the thread data and discussions which matter. With all the skeptiko links pointing back to psiencequest.net/forums should give you a boost. and I'd have thought the html thread pages hanging off some simple index of titles page in the root would generate much more traffic for these forums.

Then later you might be able to do some other stuff on all the data... to create lots of extra internal links between the pages if time permits using big traffic paranormal keywords... google loves that?

Not sure whether you saw this post of mine, Max? http://psiencequest.net/forums/thread-20...ml#pid3326

To summarise: it looks to me like Alex has quietly decided to leave the forums up albeit closed - so there would seem to be no need for us to mirror them anymore.

Otherwise: yes, I would at some point have gotten around to doing the sorts of things you suggest above.

Has anyone actually asked Alex if he intends to leave CD and OS available as read-only on his forum? Just curious, as initially he seemed to just want them gone.

As implied above: I haven't. Perhaps one of us should drop him a PM on Skeptiko. Are you up for it, Doppel?
