Haha.

That might be one reaction, but I think it’s interesting how his positivity rubbed off on people. Europeans wouldn’t be so kind imo, as you have perfectly displayed.

There’s at least two possibilities. Either:

1) Zach just loves the attention.
or
2) He is genuinely in love with his life, his job, and his passengers.

I don’t know the answer, but I’d be willing to bet that he left the vast majority thinking something or other.  LOL

I think I appreciate the intention. It's just the fact of being a captive audience which makes it potentially stressful rather than soothing. In other environments it might be more beneficial. I do notice for example when buying groceries that some of the assistants can be overflowing with positivity, and I appreciate that.

“The inferno of the living is not something that will be; if there is one, it is what is already here, the inferno where we live every day, that we form by being together. There are two ways to escape suffering it. The first is easy for many: accept the inferno and become such a part of it that you can no longer see it. The second is risky and demands constant vigilance and apprehension: seek and learn to recognize who and what, in the midst of inferno, are not inferno, then make them endure, give them space.”
 -Italo Calvino

OTOH I might've been really annoyed to have someone continually be loudly chipper as I tried to read/watch tv/sleep./..
'Historically, we may regard materialism as a system of dogma set up to combat orthodox dogma...Accordingly we find that, as ancient orthodoxies disintegrate, materialism more and more gives way to scepticism.'

- Bertrand Russell
