I’m leaving for good

I debated making this post for the last week and have decided to make it. I’ll keep it as short and concise as possible, but I am not the best at explaining my thoughts so it may be a bit messy and and disjointed.

To put it simply, this will be my last post. I am leaving and will not be returning. I have grown so tired over the past year and have made the decision to rest for good. I wanted to make this post to thank you all for creating such a wonderful forum, both here and Skeptiko. This is one of the best places to discover information that I would not have found otherwise. The community is so welcoming and nice. Although not everyone always gets along, I have found it to be a great place to have civil discussions with both skeptics and proponents and those that lie in between. 

If it turns out the proponents are right, I hope to see you all on the other side. If not, I will not feel anything anymore and will not be in constant pain. Goodbye all and take care!

That kinda screamed suicide to me.

If so, and if not too late I would urge Raven to seek help. I’m guessing (without qualification) that announcing such an intention reveals a desire for someone to listen and advise. Of course, an impersonal Internet forum is not the place to seek such counsel but there are professionals who can help.

Raven, I also didn't read your message right I think, and I would at least suggest consulting somebody first before making such a decision. It's been my experience, and because of my work to get to see this also with a ton of people, that one can have a perspective that feels absolute and that it can be surprising how such a perspective later feels like not the only or the best one to have had.

It's difficult to know what to say without knowing the circumstances, but I'm sure it's good advice to take time and talk it over with other people if possible.

TheRaven, I also badly misread your message.

From the start, I have valued the perspective you've brought to Skeptiko and Psience Quest, and the passion and openness with which you've shared it. You seem like a sincere and idealistic person to me, and we need more of those in this world, not fewer. I would be sad if you ended your life. I have been through very low points too and I understand that life is intensely painful sometimes, but there are people who care, and it can get better. Please keep your light shining if you can. And if you need someone to talk to and don't know where to turn, please send me a PM.
