I agree that a more balanced discussion would be useful. Personally, my favourite kind of interaction is to hammer out ways to investigate these phenomena after peeling away the influences of wishful thinking, chance, and getting fooled (by oneself or others), in order to get a handle on their nature. It's difficult to suggest that these issues be addressed without also leaving the impression that that's all there is to them, though. And I suspect that is why we see so much pushback towards any skeptical voices.

The skeptical part of the forum is less interesting as it seems to mostly involve the erection of straw men.
