Casual Culling of 15 million Mink.

I can’t help but think that the way we like to think of ourselves as being civilised is proven to be just more wishful thinking. The casual culling of 15 MILLION mink hardly raises an eyebrow among many of us. That The Sun newspaper (really any msm newspaper) should be the source that brings it to our attention, makes the stench of hypocrisy even more sickly. If they didn’t think that it would sell a few more papers by adding to the sadness that the public feels but looks away while we throw these amazing animals (and what animal isn’t amazing?)into shredders with little humility or compassion. 

Should we expect any compassion from the universe, while we show so little to our fellow creatures?

I hope they're not throwing live animals into shredders, Stan. If they are they're behaving like vile barbarians. Surely that was one shocking individual event. Why do they have to be culled anyway ? Are they farmed mink ? If they are why don't they stop farming them, for heaven's sake (15 million ? madness)

That appears to be the case, according to the article. I didn’t want to watch any video that it offered. 

The article suggests that they use a shredder, as it prevents the fur being sold. Money is usually involved with things I’d call ‘evil’.

Farmers who breed hens for laying eggs do it all the time to unprofitable male chicks.  Next time you have an omelette or anything with eggs in it, give that a thought.

I take it you have a personal connection.  What does he do with the male chicks then?  They are not going to lay eggs so they will cost the farmer to raise.

As an animal lover this is an appalling piece of news. It is however, necessary. Here's why. This is a different strain (mutated) of Covid 19 that can be transferred back to humans which would have no immunity even if they were previously infected with the original Covid 19 virus. It would also make any vaccine potentially useless. I don't know is the answer to that. He has several roosters running round and him and his wife are gentle souls so I am assuming he wouldn't do anything that would cause an animal harm if he possibly couldn't. It is a problem with eggs, I realise that.

They are certainly doing it for a good reason, though the way they are doing it is where most people get the issues. It is just pretty fucked up. How could you humanely kill 15 million minks I dunno though.

I had some rather messed-up dreams last night. In one of them I was late coming out of work and wanted to get to my car in the car park. But the road was under guard, and had become a river, a wide flowing river of potatoes. Yes, potatoes, as far as the eye could see, being removed from a contaminated storage warehouse or silo and transported away to be disposed of because of the contamination. I didn't feel in any way concerned about the potatoes, though it was an astounding sight, I just wanted to figure out a way to get to my car.

I think maybe we treat animals as though they were vegetables.
