Yesterday I was visiting my parents. I was sitting on a bed and I was going to watch a TV-show from my laptop. While I was adjusting the sound level (I didn't have headphones on my head yet but they were connected, so the laptop was completely silent), I heard the sound of claws scratching the surface of the parquet floor under my bed. This lasted for about 5 seconds. When I heard this noise, I immediately thought that my parents' tortoise was under my bed. Then I realized that both of their tortoises had been dead for a few years, and thought wtf, this can't be happening. I had all these thoughts on my mind while I heard that sound. I looked under the bed, but there wasn't anything. Just the bare floor.
This experience occurred at 12:25 am. My parents were asleep and the house was completely silent. They live in a row house at the side of the house, so there aren't any neighbors near that room. That house has only one floor. They have lived there for 30 years, so I'm familiar with normal sounds of ventilation etc. I am absolutely certain that there wasn't any normal source for the scratching sound that I could find. My parents had tortoises for over 20 years, so I heard that exactly same sound of claws scratching parquet floor under my bed very often when the tortoises were still alive. Currently they don't have any pets.
The room was dimly lit, but I didn't see anything. The experience was completely auditory.
