“Parry set up his own independent news website Consortium News, where, in a final piece following a stroke, he referred to journalism’s veneration of “approved opinions” while “unapproved evidence is brushed aside or disparaged regardless of its quality.””

What I see is upsetting... I hope the west is not going into a dark place... but it is starting to feel like it... it's much harder to find alternative views through google search, it just throws up mainstream stuff. That infowars.com debacle was bad enough, but now paypal has kicked them into touch too... jeez... I mean, I don't watch infowars.com and I probably disagree with a lot that is said there... but Google, Facebook, Twitter and Paypal are enormous and powerful companies...
We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.

I have been feeling that way for some time Max. I feel quite depressed about it. It’s scary.

Sad might perhaps be a better description? Depressed generally means one is not feeling very much at all - an absence of feeling. But if you watch and read everything, I think one gets contaminated by the narrative being presented, I mean it's all pretty negative stuff being presented. I go away from it for long periods, then occasionally dip back in to bring myself up to date, then go away again.

Yes, that may be more accurate.
The thing is, I don’t really want to ‘go away for long periods’ because I don’t work and don’t really have friends around. I have lots of friends, but they’re spread out. I only have a couple of friends nearby, and they’re not friends that I am that close to. So social media is my way of keeping my sanity. Ironic, isn’t it?

I'm fine with that, but I do keep away from the news etc, don't have a radio, or tv, or newspapers, everything news-like is switched off on my phone too, because they are desperate to get to you... but I have to dip back in every 6 months or so because I have a business to run... But it's amazing how when I do, after a while, their narrative activates my brains networks until their narrative becomes one of the things I am thinking about... before that happens I try to drop out again.
