What do veridical NDEs say?

Was curious about this and am looking it up myself, but is it just my ignorance or is there a split between NDEs with veridical components and NDEs that give us a somewhat detailed description of the afterlife?

Historically it seems people have done both, they give a description of their body in some funerary arrangement/preparation and then provide some details of the afterlife but I am not sure about more modern cases.

Reading through Self Does Not Die so will post here later about cases that provide some verified anomalous info as well as some indication about what the afterlife is like.

There isn't Sci, no. The Self Does Not Die is primarily focussed on the verified veridical perceptions both in the immediate vicinity and also beyond the scope of the normal senses. There are of course a number of other paranormal occurrences presented in addition. The nature of the next world or the previous world (whichever one prefers) is not really discussed for obvious reasons.

Yeah so far I've largely seen mentions of "the light" or "a light", with a little bit about angelic figures in one NDE.

I'll have to look at this more closely as it seems historically there is a greater set of NDEs where someone provides veridical information and then also a description of the afterlife. (IIRC the influence of NDEs on varied Native American beliefs was partially due to the verdical info giving some proof of authority in matters of the afterlife.)

I suspect that some of the detailed verdical NDE/OBE's may be produced by the curiousity and level of attachment the person has
to their immediate surroundings. I haven't noticed anything that would indicate that we can bracket them differently. Logically, wouldn't all soley veridical reports also have the otherworldly features if they had not 'hung around' as long observing what was going on below ?

Yeah that seems to make sense. I'd have assumed that veridical NDEs are from those who are more attached to this plane of existence during the NDE itself for whatever reason...but it seems there are a variety of historical NDEs from around the world where a person will provide info about this world that is later confirmed but then also provide info on the alternative reality they experienced.

If this is correct - it requires a large survey of NDEs that I am only now trying to look at - I would be curious as to why there were more veridical + afterlife realm accounts in the past whereas now it seems more to be a split between veridical NDEs and those that give afterlife accounts.

Of course part of what qualifies as a veridical accounts is meeting people in the afterlife that you didn't know about or people who [you] know but were not aware of their death before the NDE. I would think there are some descriptions of the afterlife in these cases, so will have to check that out as well.

Parnia's group recently commisoned one and used the qualitative elements in their new guidelines paper which is now on collision course with the Status Quo.
