Table Levitation

A rather good, detailed discussion between Braude and Mishlove, replete with examples and gentle probing.

I've never seen a picture or video of a table tipping that I felt wasn't, or couldn't be, easily fakes. Don't know if this is the case of course, just saying that since this so easy to conjure, why bother getting worked up over it?

Braude mentions there are a large number of photographs. Is there an archive of those that are considered authentic?

To me, a photo of a table in the air is pretty unconvincing. There are just too many ways for it to get there, that are not possible to detect from a photo, especially an old grainy one.

Would still be interesting to see an archive if there were 50-60 photos available from one session along with commentary of the participants. With that many photos from different angles one should be able to get a feel for authenticity. Since Braude said there were "many" photos, I thought such an archive might exist.

Hey, who knows... Seeing might be believing...

To be absolutely convinced I would need to be involved with an extended session and know the participants. But I would be interested to see such a photo archive along with commentary and hopefully specs on the photographer.

Interesting reference by Braude to his work with Kai Mügge showing a table levitating while shot with an infrared camera. Braude seems convinced of both his controls and the overall authenticity of the phenomena while acknowledging other aspects of Mügge's representations have not held up to scrutiny.

The infrared wouldn't show many of the kinds of tricks used by a magician.

Yes, and then you have the very strong accusation of fraud leveled at Mr Mugge. I wonder if he has any idea the damage to credibility he has done to the whole PM community?

I feel it's unfortunate that the online archive of very high-quality photographs by Sven Türck doesn't include any of his seance images.
Some of the images are over 7000 x 5000 pixels and couldn't have been shot on anything small or grainy. It isn't the image quality which is the limiting factor, but the availability or access to original negative or plates. .
