Renaming the "Skeptic vs. Proponent Discussions" subforum

Out of curiosity, what is the name change expected to accomplish?

Suggestions:

Critical Debate or Discussion

Suspension of Belief

Thoughtful Consideration of Alternate Perspectives

Proponent vs. Skeptic Discussions

Skeptical Perspectives

Proponent Hostility

Maybe the only one?

I'm anti-ontology, so I'd rather major ontologies were kept off the table altogether.  Tongue

Seems redundant, considering the nature of the forum.

"Proponent vs. Opponent" removes that redundancy, and makes it clear what the forum is about.

Re: "disbelievers". It's been explained above why that idea wasn't retained, but we could consider synonyms that don't have a faith-based implication: doubter, questioner. So proponents vs. doubters, proponents vs. questioners.

I still like proponent vs. opponent though.

I'm finding myself reluctant to go for anything with a vs. in it. Something like "Questionings" or carrying a similar sense could express a meaning that the subject matter is to be scrutinised, but without the need to divide members into factions. Perhaps I'm being too picky or finicky, I just see these ideas as a continuum, I'm clearly finding it hard to grasp where others are coming from. That is to say, I can relate to the ideas expressed but don't necessarily consider there are benefits in going in that direction, but I do see how it can be harmful, in creating obstacles or barriers from the very outset.

Heh. Perhaps ‘all on’ and ‘all off’ aren’t that far apart.

You don't think my post starting with "Why I support this change" at least implicitly answered your question?
I'm all in for Chris's original idea. Hyman vs Honorton, has a nice ring to it, as well as conveying a touch of history.
Rounds vs squares, is my second choice.
