NDE as "genetic" proposal, I find it weird.

Hi all,

I've found a link to this study (or better yet hypothesis), the writer seems to propose genetical and evolutionary factors for the NDE phenomenon.

I don't really agree much with it. Evolution is usually kinda straightforward, and until recent years NDE's were nearly absent as cardiac arrest lead to permanent death in the vast majority of cases.

Quote:I describe evolutionary scenarios that may have led to the origin and persistence of an NDE predisposition in populations through direct, indirect or neutral selection involving both biological and nonbiological inheritance mechanisms.Specifically, I examine the evolutionary dynamics of an NDE predisposition from the perspectives of multi-factorial fitness landscapes, the neuronal replicator hypothesis, sociocultural, behavioral and symbolic inheritance systems.

And much more of the same. What bunk, what nonsense. It only goes to show the arrogance and deliberate ignorance of academic "experts". The author sublimely ignores the manifold empirical evidence of separation of mind and brain occurring during NDEs. The hundreds of independently investigated veridical NDEs plus many instances of NDE experiences occurring during periods when the brain is non-functioning or mostly non-functioning, such as cardiac arrest. On top of the fact that most NDEs were inhibited by death in the long ages before there was any modern resuscitation and life-preserving medical technology. How was selection supposed to work?
