Little Folk with white beards and colourful waistcoats

Was talking to a member of staff about Maldacena's AdS/CFT tin can theory, as an example of why event's are not really connected in the naive classical everyday way we are taught to understand the world. I mentioned I had come at these sorts of theories from a completely different direction... the paranormal type common human experiences labeled as... little folk in colourful waistcoats, ghosts, telepathy, NDE OBE's etc.

He said: funny you should mention that... when I was a child (9-10)... I fell all the way down the stairs one time... when I reached the bottom I looked back up at the landing... and standing there as real as real was a little man, with white hair, and a long white beard, wearing a colourful black and red checked waistcoat, and he was pointing a sawed-off shotgun at me... he said he was so frightened he dived through the nearest door in the hallway into the living room. He said he can still recall the memory of seeing the little person very clearly (55 odd years later), he mentioned it was the strangest experience.
We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.

I can't recall if you're already aware of it, but might want to check out the Modern Fairy Sightings Podcast.

Quote:The ‘Modern Fairy Sightings‘ Project collects and preserves contemporary experiences and explores the resistant cultural taboo surrounding disclosure. The Modern Fairy Sightings Podcast was launched in 2020 and features fairy encounters told first hand.

Here’s the first episode, ‘A Remote Encounter’. I chat with a man who crossed paths with a being from an Otherworld while walking in a remote area of Scotland. His experience was something he had never considered a possibility.
'Historically, we may regard materialism as a system of dogma set up to combat orthodox dogma...Accordingly we find that, as ancient orthodoxies disintegrate, materialism more and more gives way to scepticism.'
