Expert: After 50 years we have not learned anything yet about the truth of UFOs

Quote:"Perhaps the most famous of all researchers of the phenomenon, Jacques Vallee, says that the current situation – with UFO sightings regularly in the news and a high profile government investigation – very much reminds him of a similar scenario five decades ago.

In discussing his seminal 1979 book Messengers of Deception: UFO contacts and Cults (recently released for the first time in Kindle ebook format) with the Daily Grail – full YouTube video interview embedded below – Vallee said that watching the recent government hearings “reminds me absolutely of what it was like 50 years ago”."

Comment: I think Vallee's expert opinion should be taken very seriously. This is still a mystery, after more than 50 years of trying hard to plausibly explain these things as weather balloons and temperature inversions and hallucinations and imagination and whatever. And finding out that statistically the more data there is on a particular sighting the more strange and unexplained are the objects. This is the opposite of what would be expected with something that actually has various conventional explanations. The old saying "Where there is smoke there must be fire" comes to mind.

So this long-term apparently indefinitely extended failure to conventionally explain the UFO phenomenon prominently and stubbornly leaves open the possibility that UFOs are what they seem to be in the best sightings - aliens from another world (or from somewhere else we might not be able to imagine) with exceedingly advanced science and technology.

I do think *something* is happening that is not easily explained - or explained at all - by conventional things like weather balloons or even military aircraft.

I'm not sure about the smoke-fire...analogy? The "smoke" could be perpetual errors being made.

UFOs/UAPs are mysteries, and when combined with "alien" encounters do signal "Deep Weird"-/"High Strange"-nes.

But beyond that it's very unclear what is happening. Completely unconvinced there are any crashed vehicles or alien corpses stored by terrestrial governments, and there are a variety of issues of trying to pin down a method for FTL travel such as temporal paradox.

I have some sympathy for Vallee's Control System, but it doesn't quite make sense when one has to really explain how it has worked. It seems to end up resulting in "just so" stories, competing with mundane explanation for how humanity has gotten into the state it's in.

I will say one of the biggest detriments to figuring out the mystery is the number of grifters that seem to always be around the UFO phenomenon.

Think of the wildest things that have been written about ufos: that ufos operate with impunity, they can disable ICBMs remotely,  that aliens are abducting people and performing experiments on them, that the people agreed to participate before they were born, that the aliens are working with advanced spiritual entities and souls of the dead, that the us military is using alien technology to abduct people and perform experiments on them too.

UPDATE: Also ... some people have had previous incarnations as aliens, and some aliens are indistinguishable from humans and have infiltrated society our and governments.

If faster than light travel is possible it would lead to the production of faster than light missiles which would be impossible to defend against, - even the sublight speeds of ufos in the atmosphere would be impossible to defend against. Just knowing something is possible can give unfriendly countries enough encouragement to develop the technology.

If any of that is true then the government is not going to say it, or start on a slippery slope that could lead to it, because it would make them look powerless, the people would lose respect for authority and be less "obedient", and many people would panic. I've read all of that and digested it gradually, I don't know how much is true but there were times it made me feel uncomfortable. Having it dumped on the world all at once would not be a good idea.

Personally, for the most part (ie with some exceptions) I trust the experiencers more than I do researchers or government spokespersons.
