Both materialists and non-materialists are saying this article proves their point

I noticed some materialists are saying that this proves consciousness/emotions is just a brain created phenomenon 

But then I also noticed some non-materialists are saying this is proof we have souls and that it is even more mysterious how their brains communicate through a bridge with each other.

These little girls are wonderful and resilient btw.

It doesn't show anything either way.

But materialism is false for other reasons.

edit: If the question is not about the philosophical position of materialism, but whether consciousness is produced by the brain and ends with death...It doesn't show anything either way on that front either...
