Orson Wedgwood (a.k.a Ben Williams) from the AwareofAWARE blog has released a new book about NDEs and the AWARE studies, as well as some of the implications they have.

I checked out the synopsis ... seems odd .. seems to make a claim that 10-20 percent of souls survive death and some of those go to hell ... and the book mentions how to be one of the “10-20” percent who survive, and then how to avoid going down . I’m good . Thanks !

Based on your summary, this sounds more like a vehicle for the author to push his own personal beliefs.

If that's the case then I think he's making a mistake. Also, the title, proof of the soul and God ? is too much for me, personally. I don't have a problem with "god" whatever god is but the word itself does not suffice.

As to whether NDE's are proof of a 'soul' (however we want to term it they are not proof of course), even if privately one might be satisfied that they most likely are, pulling back a bit is surely wiser, notwithstanding the flak such a suggestion will draw.

I'm not going to buy the book to add to my already overly large collection,  so I'll have to rely on others for their thoughts. Other than that, I've always found Ben very nice and approachable, just to add.

Thank Tim, I respect your opinion. I think in this area you have more background knowledge than I do since I think you've spent more time on that site and interacting with Ben than I have.

Sometime in the distant past, when I first heard of "aware of aware" - and this was in the very early days, I read something by the author which at that time seemed rather dismissive of the AWARE study (in my opinion) and since then I've viewed that site with what one might call the opposite of rose-tinted spectacles. In other words, I know I'm biassed. It's ok to take my opinion with a pinch of salt.

Ben has since decided to retract the book, and likely took such criticisms into consideration: https://wordpress.com/read/feeds/1611443...3126406347

I don't know so much, Typoz. Anyway as Omni has reported above, he's now "unpublished" it (he states). I hope it wasn't anything that I said here (above) that affected his decision.

Man that just makes me feel bad. Having seen his posts on the blog for ages he's been properly working on that book it makes me sad to think how he must feel having to take it down. But, at the same time that info just ain't right, so I suppose it's just gotta be.

That link just takes me to a WordPress login screen.

Is Ben or Orson his real name, by the way? I looked up Orson Wedgewood on Google and found a Dr Orson Wedgewood booked to give a talk on Spirituality and Science at a Catholic Church somewhere in England.
I do not make any clear distinction between mind and God. God is what mind becomes when it has passed beyond the scale of our comprehension.

Apologies, I have a wordpress account and I didn't realise this. Try this one: https://awareofaware.co/

Orson is his name, apologies. Ben is his pseudonym I think (from a character in one of his books). I think he's a molecular biologist and currently studying in neuroscience.
