Presenting thsese two next songs always feels like there have to be presented with some sort of "waivers". To say that one like either of them people assume one have to be either a communist or an British imperialist.....I'm neither, lol Big Grin

Since I'm neither Russian or British I feel like I can appreciate these songs regardless of th ´connotations´ or "history" behind them, and just appreciate them for how powerful they are, as a musical piece....and they are.

So listen to without "thinking"....´

The above anthem might sound powerful, but this one below have more "hearth" to it.......I know it's not the anthem "anthem".(God save the Queen)    but the audience singing at the end of it is just amazing.

*skip in to 3:min in...or if you really want the "kick" skip in to around 6:55*  Smile

Edit: Sry, drunk-texting a bit. Wink

Quite how I arrived at this I'm not sure, partly it was from listening to the "Marseillaise", then by some mysterious sequence of steps ended up here:

This was one of the pieces along the way. Earlier today I was visualising letting unwanted thoughts drift away on the tide or on a river. The pictures here seem to fit quite closely. The sound - not what I'd commonly listen to, but it is hypnotic.

'Historically, we may regard materialism as a system of dogma set up to combat orthodox dogma...Accordingly we find that, as ancient orthodoxies disintegrate, materialism more and more gives way to scepticism.'

Have a listen to this Trent Reznor version of Immigrant Song, (Led Zeppelin) from the movie The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

I saw this flick in the movie theatre, and when it opened with this sequence they didn't spare on the volume, and the whole room was just vibrating with this version of Led Zeppelins Immigrant Song - and it felt like a battery. Wink

Anyone remember this song?
I do, but I hadn't reflected so much over the bass-line. But when I heard her (Maria Altesa) playing it I remember that bass-line is about 75% of the song, and the vocals the rest.

Back then this song was just ONE of the hundreds brilliant songs poured forth in the 80's, and we were sooo jaded with exceptional songs & artists that we didn't even had the time to stop and listen to them individually, before tyhe next one was out. It was like a cascade of hits pouring over us, and some songs just "withered away" - like this one.

When I listen to the vocals and the bassline I realise what a touching song it is - with Paul Young soul voice to it.

Paul Young - Everytime You Go Away

Here is Maria Altesa's version of it - which is emotionally remarkable in its own way:

Maria Altesa - Everytime You Go Away [Bass Cover]

I think I played this one b4, but it is good enough  to listen to again *funk4evah*

Marta Altesa - Jamiroquai - Time Won't Wait [Bass Cover]

It's the original beat from Men In Black - Will Smith, but this is a remix version (sorta)

Nevahthaless, it's groovy.... The things isnt the bassline, it is about the thightness, and instant-groove.
This lil' spanish girl has the groove in the simplicity, and then make it grandeur.....

Marta Altesa - Patrice Rushen - Forget Me Nots [Bass Cover]
