I'm not using these words in any idiosyncratic way. Just the usual dictionary definitions.

OK, then perhaps you can elaborate a little on what the mental or conscious stuff is that (in your view) science looks at, what science has discovered about it, and how it relates to the other physical/matter stuff that science studies.
