I suppose that either way you invite skepticism: client-side, and somebody can easily fake their results. Server-side, there will be speculation as to an issue with the site. As this isn't under fully controlled conditions I would say the random selection of the correct color should be done client-side, and the results stored on the server.

Ok is Psience Quest able to host an extra script? If I make a php script as an endpoint we can use to store the results, could it be hosted here? If we can host the client-side code too, then we'd have our own ESP test.

Yes, we have a fair bit of control over our hosting account, including cPanel, FTP, and shell access. PHP is a good idea too as our forum and wiki software - MyBB and MediaWiki respectively - are both PHP apps.

You're right that either way we invite skepticism. The motivation for this app though was to eliminate the possibility of client-side cheating compared to the app from which you've already shared your very impressive results. Perhaps we could support both? We could then check whether overall (and per-user) results differ between client- and server-side. I think the priority should be on server-side though.

Ok I will get started on a php app that selects colors randomly each time, and can store the results. I'll make a new thread when it's runnable.

1/25 is impressive. Some people do score below rather than above chance. But doing something consistently, over many test runs, that's more difficult.
