There might be more to the Turin Shroud than I thought

I was certain for a long time that the Turin Shroud was a fake but now.......

I don't have any points to argue one way or the other, but after watching the video I had two questions:

1) What is the provenance of the shroud?

2) Was Jesus' image on the shroud mentioned in the new testament?

I asked google using search labs (AI with links to references) and the answer returned was "no", but there are theories that explain why it might not be.

I still have my doubts of course but as to your second question, I don't see any reason why the NT should mention it.  It wouldn't have been relevant to the early disciples and isn't relevant to the Gospel.  Also it took modern technology to be able to see the image clearly. I imagine the shroud would have been discarded early on.
