Hi.  It's been a long time but I thought I would drop by and say hi and ask how everybody is doing.

Good to hear from you @Brian . Not a lot to say right now. Anything interesting happening for you lately?

Not a lot sadly.  Been working hard and my evenings and weekends are spent browsing the net because I have no energy left to do anything else.  Still, I have a new computer and have been collecting virtual instruments so maybe I will get inspired to make some music, who knows?

Hey @Brian, it's nice to see you. Have you stuck with the vegan ethic?

The board's pretty quiet these days but it ticks along. It's similar for me personally.

Hi Laird.  Yes I stick to the vegan ethic at home but work is very difficult because I wash dishes in a public hall that has three restaurants and two bars and I get tempted when I see the cooked meat. Eating it doesn't affect the amount of meat they cook or buy though so on a direct level it doesn't do any harm.  It's just that I would have liked to be a positive influence on others.  How about you?

There are subtleties to the indirect harm too, as implied by some of the stuff we talk about on Psience Quest. I've written a piece about it that I plan to publish soon. I'll link you in when I do.

It's not even a question for me. Avoidable harm to non-human animals is as unacceptable as avoidable harm to human animals, and oftentimes more so given their relative defencelessness in general, especially in agriculture, and most especially in industrial agriculture. I do not and will never participate in it in any way, especially given the systemic and often abhorrently cruel nature of the oppression.

Music is good. Listening to it is fine, though creating or playing music even better. Hope you are able to try something creative anyway.
Apologies, didn't see this when it was initially posted - good to hear from you Brian!
'Historically, we may regard materialism as a system of dogma set up to combat orthodox dogma...Accordingly we find that, as ancient orthodoxies disintegrate, materialism more and more gives way to scepticism.'
