I may have heard otherwise but simply can’t remember. Is it assumed by the experiencer that speaking about their account is the main reason they are allowed to return to their previous life?
I wonder if they have the same free will as they had on earth when making any decisions.
Are you aware of any accounts where this task has been clearly spelled out?
Like many on here, Stan, I think I could have a reasonable stab at this (interesting) question but I always feel uneasy discussing the deeper content of NDE's because we really aren't going to 'know' with any certainty, are we. It looks to me like the future may be pre-determined and then again it may be variable and alterable or actually non existent, or maybe it's all of those.
And as our understanding of the way time works is incomplete you can make a case for several options, I would have thought. One man who I spoke to quite regularly (who had a cardiac arrest and has now died) reported that he was told to go back because his wife needed him.
That was it. There was no "go back and perform amazing altruistic deeds for your fellow man". This 'being' that sent/persuaded him to go back (even though he absolutely did not want to) obviously knew that his body was going to be, or was capable of being resuscitated.
So what about the one's who don't make it. Does the 'being' know that their particular medical circumstance are beyond retrieval ? In that instant, how does it work? Does intervention sometimes come in, like the "presence" in the operating room (Lloyd Rudy) and if it does, why not for everyone ? And are we supposed to beg for it ?
So, in answer to your question (but not a satisfactory one) his task was 'spelled' out, but it was only go back because your wife needs you.
