But be a little skeptical at the same time: what do you know about this person posting as "Eveshi" who seems to have a rather obsessive interest in Pssst? How do you know that this "Eveshi" is not himself impersonating the real Eveshi? (Note that Oliver Smith impersonated Eveshi on our forum before we caught on to his game). How have you verified that the supposed information he has posted about Pssst is accurate? What do you know about his motivations?

No one can ever say 100% but if you read the whole page you will get an impression of the honesty with which it is written, factual details included etc.  Compare that to Pssst's posts and what we do know about him.  Sometimesw one can stretch open mindedness to unrealistic extremes.  It's like saying how do we know criminals are criminals.  We have no right to ensure public safety by locking them up if we don't know.  If somebody was impersonating me on the internet, I would be obsessed with stopping them and I have found others on other forums that want to find him in order to take legal action against him.  His misdemeanours are not minor so lets stop being wishy washy about him.

Do you mean this one? It’s the only PM I can find that I’ve sent you. If you find this ‘obnoxious’ it only reinforces my opinion of you.

“Hi Brian

Which post of mine did you read? I see pssst as just another possibility, as I do all things. He may appear to talk nonsense but then so do the people on the BBC breakfast these days much of the time imo. I like to think that I can sense energies when I read people's posts, pssst has a light energy, others here have a much darker energy. I tend to avoid such people.
Taking the last sentence of your PM. Have you not considered if other members that you get offended by feel the same way? If you are talking about me thinking I'm spiritual, I really don't know what being spiritual means any more. I used to think I did, but now everything's in the air.
I think that I understand your feelings of possible frustration or maybe even anger towards me. 'It is what it is'. I have my opinions too, are they strong opinions? Where the forum is concerned, no, not really. They are mostly floating opinions, not hammered down. No offense Brian, but I think you have too many hammered down opinions.
If you don't like what people say or think, just avoid them. Learn from them from their actions, or maybe their inactions. There's no point in getting too emotional and flying off in a huff. The only one who really cares about things, is you. Not the you meaning Brian, the you meaning all of us.
All the Best

Oh my God, I hate all this.   Surprise

There. I've  now announced my candidacy for moderator.

I don't think you can say no one should ever be banned. Apart from anything else, it would be an invitation for people to come in and wreck the place. I think having it as a last resort is the right policy.

While i hold your opinion in high regard. I have a strong belief in the marketplace of free ideas. And that good will win out inthe end.
I dont expect everyone too see my point of view, my ideas maybe utopian.

Sure, but impressions can be deceiving. We have no idea who this "Eveshi" really is nor of what his agenda is, especially considering that the guy has been impersonated on our own forum!

There's nothing wishy-washy about a ban. That said, Pssst is not all Mr Hyde - he has a Dr Jekyll too.

As you say, everyone will have a different opinion about this. But personally, when I look at the Internet I don’t feel optimistic about good ideas winning out in the end.

I actually thought that after the aforementioned Mr Smith was banned from the forum, things have been relatively peaceful. Certainly Pssst seemed - at least judging by his actions on this forum, a relatively benign influence by comparison.

Having said that, perhaps I grew accustomed to a wide range of posting styles over at Skeptiko where some members who seemed to be mostly disruptive, were apparently well-liked and appreciated by others - including by some members whose judgement I greatly respect, regardless of whether I find myself in agreement or not.

I concede.  I have unsubscribed to this thread, Stan Wooley is on ignore and I'm backing down to keep the peace but if I suspect he has returned under a different name I will shout.
