Thanks Tim - and others too. I am allowed to indulge in a little something - but I do need to let the dust settle for a few more days before I'm that adventurous.

I had in mind a Leffe Blonde from Belgium.
Not my everyday choice, but a pleasant little beer.

I’ve just read the opening paragraph of this thread, and I think it may be worth posting again:

I think the previous few posts on the Wuhan Virus thread have shown just how important it is to have somewhere where members can discuss things outside of things PSI. I am often taken with a strong notion to put something down on paper that has nothing to do with psi. ‘Other topics’ was the place I went to on Skeptiko to do so, I felt it very important to be able to discuss these things with my friends at both places. I’ve recently left Skeptiko precisely because it has stopped being an open minded place where all views were accepted, if not exactly welcomed. It has become an echo chamber imo. I’d hate to see the same thing happen here.”

The forum without controversial topics is boring! If you want this to be like a library that hardly anyone visits, manned by one little old deaf lady in her eighties, you’re going about it the right way imo.

It’s a pity, perhaps it’s time is simply past?

My 2c.
Oh my God, I hate all this.   Surprise
But, Stan, all the controversial socio-political topics are available . It's just that people have to choose to sign-in to have access to them, and if they don't it means they're not interested in them. Am I wrong?

Well Ian, it seems to me that they might well be interested in the subjects, but not when they’re hidden. It’s like they’re willing to mix with the ‘underclass’ when they come to them, but are afraid of sullying their good reputation by following them home!  Big Grin Since the threads were hidden, the forum has been as quiet as a mausoleum! This may be a coincidence of course.

I would really like to ask Linda (for example) why she felt the need to delete all her ‘virus’ posts before they were hidden, and why she won’t post in the hidden threads. Apologies if she’s answered this before.

I think it may well be coincidence. Linda was a main contributor to those threads, and so was someone else, initially, who has left the forum.

Maybe the coronavirus topic - though not the reality - has exhausted itself a bit too for the moment.

I had a look at three of the main virus threads. Even without Linda there were plenty of different people that contributed to them.

Don’t you think that it’s quite bizarre to allow for example a puzzle thread in public, but not one discussing possibly one of the biggest events ever in our lives? I certainly do. Weird.

Who's officially left the forum, Ian ?
I don't know if it's right for me to say, or if that person would want me to, tim.

But again we can discuss it. It's not bizarre inasmuch as we're just following the rules that the forum members as a community set up themselves.

Say what you like, I think it’s weird.

Theres something about what’s happening here like you’re all ‘maintaining an even strain’, while the city’s potentially collapsing around us. It’s just a feeling I have.
