'Historically, we may regard materialism as a system of dogma set up to combat orthodox dogma...Accordingly we find that, as ancient orthodoxies disintegrate, materialism more and more gives way to scepticism.'

Quantum Breakthrough: Proof of Wavefunction Collapse on Superconducting Quantum Computer Supports Penrose-Hameroff Consciousness Theory

Quote:Scientists at Valis Corporation have demonstrated gravitationally induced wavefunction collapse on an IBM Eagle quantum chip and will present their findings at Deep Tech Week, New York. Their results are consistent with the Penrose-Hameroff theory of Orchestrated Objective Reduction (Orch-OR) – an explanation for human consciousness. The Penrose theory is one of the many competing proposals that solve the famous physics paradox of Schrödinger's Cat.

Will have to wait for replication but this is pretty interesting...

I'm surprised it hasn't made more headlines. Even without replication, this seems like the kind of thing to excite the headline writers.

It looks like 'Radin-esque' PR rubbish to me... in any case, as soon as one starts talking about partial measurements (in QM terms). I switch off.

We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.

I only gave the article a brief read as I’m not into the details with orch-or. But partial measurment in this context simply means you only measure one of two entangled qubits.
