If there are pages of answers that address my question, why won't someone post a link to the answer when I keep asking the question? Or when fls asks the same question? What I get is "You haven't done enough homework; go back and read everything again." It's more like a conversion attempt than an answer.

So finally I did reread a bunch of pages and posted this:

On the other hand, if you really don't understand my question, then I guess you can't post a link to the answer.

Why would I consider anything from fls when she has said that she doesn't read the posts because she thinks metaphysics is dumb and she doesn't care? As far as I'm concerned, that should disqualify her from the discussion and, probably, from the forum too (metaphysics is practically all we discuss so she's clearly hanging around for purposes of mischief). I don't think I'm being unfair either. I pointed out that you did the same thing on that Skeptiko discussion. I think that is rather you who is being unfair by dismissing all the attempts to answer you and repeating the question endlessly. I'm not the only one who has no clue what you are asking. The pages of answers are actually attempts to answer, all of which you dismiss and immediately re-state the question.

To be frank, when I see the sneering responses from Steve, fls and malf and your disingenuous "why won't anyone answer my question" game playing, I'm inclined to call it a day and find something more productive to do with my time.

My primary interest in this forum is in discussing first-hand experiences, my own or those of other forum members. If "metaphysics is practically all we discuss" then perhaps its time to shut down the forum.

Perhaps it is.

Ok, I made that post in the heat of the moment, it wasn't quite what I meant to say. I apologise if it was a bit strongly-worded.

There is room here for plenty of different views, and different topics which I don't think are served well anywhere else.

That blame falls entirely with Sciborg.

Sorry Steve, have I missed the myriad of posts and threads you've contributed with accounts of first hand experiences?

Grow up, please.

I was commenting on this. Is it really so abhorrent that I might agree with something you think? Obviously it is.

This thread is in Philosophical Discussions. I don't think it is meant to refer to things like empirical experiences, or what you and I think of as facts, or reality. (Said without sarcasm.)

I realize that metaphysical discussions get heavy traffic here, but there are many areas on the forum for other kinds of discussion to take place. And given that there seems to be many proponents who don't engage with metaphysical discussion either, it shouldn't be a problem.

I don't get involved in these discussions because I don't think anything will ever be resolved but I do read as much as I have time to, even though some of it's over my head, or at least it is initially.

"Arguing with Paul" could (in theory) enter the English language as a useful idiom for a pointless exercise or hopelessness. I'm not saying he shouldn't be engaged (he is a polite/pleasant enough character) but you could write a million paragraphs and it wouldn't make any difference...he won't budge.

I assume the 'shutting down' suggestion was born out of frustration rather than a serious desire to see it shut down. I mean that's not going to happen anyway and my wish is that psience quest will continue and flourish over the years, even after Paul, Malf and Linda have fallen off their perches and I've had my very own actual death experience.

I hate to invoke the "Mod Plus" descriptor, but if there is some active mod could they delete the off topic meta-discussion.

Admittedly I should've just made this thread on its own, completely divorced from other conversations, but I don't personally want to make the thread a "blame game".

[And then just delete this post after, thanks]
