There are CORT cases where someone remembers an in-between life, but some of this seems t[o]o odd to be real and very culturally motivated. For example the stories of a soul trying to get their future mother to swallow the particular grain of rice that contains their essence.I think the problem is that people report non-material phenomena as if they were material - they walk up staircases, see colours, observe scenes that look like idealised scenes you would find on Earth, etc. You kind of know that the information NDEs convey has been somehow translated into physical terms.
Maybe some spirits do try to persuade their potential mothers to 'adopt' them.
More generally, IMHO I don't think it helps to select the most extreme reports and theorise from them.
