Idea for a news page in the Wiki section

I've just skimmed the first four pages of the "NDE's" thread, and it seems to me that there is a lot of commentary in those four pages, which I would be very, very wary of deleting, but of which I also agree with you that it would be too decontextualised to move to a separate thread. I would, then, personally encourage you (us) to go the wiki page route. However, I suspect that my comment to Chris above applies in your case: you are probably not already familiar with the syntax of wikitext, and are probably (also) not interested in learning it - and we are currently not able to make editing of the wiki easy enough for you that you don't need to learn how to edit wikitext.

So, here's an offer: I will set up the wiki page for you, and repost all of the NDE accounts in that thread for you and for others who have posted them. Then, if you want to learn how to post further accounts to the wiki page yourself, and - as I suspect - are not already familiar with wikitext, I will provide you with any assistance that you might need. Otherwise, I will simply continue to serve as the proxy for you and other posters to the thread, reposting to the wiki page any accounts that you and others post in the forum thread.

What say you?

Okay, of course it's always a matter of opinion to some degree. I should have specifically stated that the thread would be comment free so it's only my own fault anyway.

That's fair comment, too

Very kind of you, Laird ! But let me think about it for a while. Might just be better to leave it as it is. I've got quite a lot of stuff still to post if I ever get round to it, anyway.

I think I could pick most things up with enough effort, Laird but I'm not sure I can be bothered now. When I come back to earth in the future, either we'll be back to the stone age or the technology will have changed so much, it'll be even more complicated...or maybe not, thinking about it.

How about simply: "Psience News"?

I've added a final item and links to two discussion threads for the first week's bulletin:
https://psiencequest.net/wiki/News_-_12-18_January_2020

And I've also started a new page for the week 19-25 January, and made an index page which can list all the weekly bulletins:
https://psiencequest.net/wiki/News

It does what it says on the tin, doesn't it. Not bad at all ! I wonder what others think.

I've finished off the Psience News page for 19-25 February and started a new one for the coming week.

Thanks for your consistent effort on this, Chris.

A couple of suggestions/questions:

Should upcoming events from previous news pages be reiterated in the next news page where they are still yet to occur (or still in progress), perhaps with an indication that they are reiterations?

Perhaps we could include a link to the index from each news page.
I assumed my suggestions were agreeable, and went ahead and implemented them to save you the hassle, Chris, but if you're unhappy with the results, then please feel free to revert. I used italics to indicate reiterated upcoming events.

I had a look back through the "Upcoming Events" threads, and found only three items still to come in addition to the ones we already have on the News page. So perhaps it would be worth adding those as well. I wonder whether - rather than having new items at the top and repeats below in italics - it may be better to have the whole list in chronological order and to have a bold "[New]" or something to introduce the new ones? I can try that if there are no objections.

Good idea.

No objections from me.
