I've now done that (just in the current version of the news page). I think it looks OK.

As a complement to the News pages, I've begun adding its Upcoming Events to the calendar provided by our MyBB forum software, and I've reinserted the Calendar link at the top of the page accordingly (with the display of birthdays removed).
