Higher dimensionality

I was reviewing some of the books that I have on my Kindle, and I think this old Skeptiko show is worth thinking about:

I got White's book, which I am re-reading right now.

It would seem that there was a lot of excitement at around the start of the last century that there is a higher dimension (literally) that contains spiritual information/places/souls. A lot of people were teaching themselves to visualise in 4 dimensions. That is 4 real spatial dimensions, not Minkowski space. I am staggered by how much influence this had, and I wonder if we are missing something by not taking this a lot more seriously.

Edwin Abbott popularised this idea (although the roots go further back) and Charles Hinton pushed the idea further, encouraging people to effectively enter an altered state of consciousness by visualising the fourth dimension!

White claims that the concept of the fourth dimension inspired many people, including impressionist painters such as Picasso. I find that hard to judge, however, because I am not much into visual art, particularly art of that kind - but I'm sure that is just my limitation.

Though I haven't listened to the episode I will say that 4+ spatial dimensions is very much how I interpret space, and likewise with time They act as good models to explain data I've gotten from my old poltergeisting experiments as well as the virtual space-time of induced shared dreams. Let alone the very explicit "infinite layers of infinites" nature of how things seemed to work according to my past life memory.

Do you mean 4 space dimensions and 2 time dimensions? Two time dimensions seems much more attractive to me than the idea of timelessness.

They act as good models to explain data I've gotten from my old poltergeisting experiments as well as the virtual space-time of induced shared dreams. Let alone the very explicit "infinite layers of infinites" nature of how things seemed to work according to my past life memory.

I suppose the physicists crushed the idea by comparing it with their string models where the extra dimensions are 'rolled up' into ridiculously tight cylinders. However as more and more physicists are giving up on string theory, the idea might open up a bit.

Maybe? Supposedly if the memories are correct I think it was probably something more like infinite of each but they didn't all necessarily interact at the same time. As for a whole new thread about the whole virtual timespace thing, I can't really promise anything. I know I'm not as active here as I used to be but I don't know if that's going to be able to change any time soon.

I'm not sure what I'd be linking to, I don't know if I've written up any specific shared dreams on here and have really slowed down on writing up most experiences, I don't feel the need to share them like I used to, I guess most of the processing is done for them. But basically, since there were multiple instances where we were able to have shared dreams where we found that our individual components occurred at very different times, sometimes months apart, yet everything was synced up in the dream like we were there at the same time, it seemed like decent explanation was a virtual timespace, much like how a multiplayer game takes place in a virtual space where you can be in two real spaces very diferent from each other yet are synced up in the game. Same thing, just plus time, that was teh idea.
