OK, so now I've had chance to do a little digging and some interesting stuff has surfaced. Firstly, I happened upon thus thread mentioning Chris Howarth (the very same, see above).

Chris Howarth Called Out As A Fraud

Readers will notice that there are some differing views with a defence of Howarth offered by someone with the username "mac". Another user suspects that "mac" is being impersonated to which "mac" responds:

Quote:When faced with impersonation - as is the case now I've become a favourite target of this 'mu' character who has also regularly impersonated others

And, later, "mac" adds:

Quote:I told the truth about the MU!! character and my track record on websites - easy to check.

I also noticed that another user goes by the name of Obiwan so I wondered whether that might be our very own Obiwan?

Anyhow, the debate about Howarth continues and, finally, a link is provided to another thread containing a report of a seance held by Chris Howarth. That thread is here:

Report on recent Chris Howarth seance

The report, as you will see, goes some way to confirming my own impressions outlined in my posts above.

Quote:Chris went through his protocols and described the phenomena that usually occurs in his seances. He advised that sitters may be touched on the elbows, which is a sign that Louis Armstrong wished to dance with them. I was excited by the prospect of being part of a seance where this occurs.

We then heard a male voice that was purported to be Louis Armstrong. The voice sounded like a Yorkshireman attempting to speak with a African-American accent from the Southern States. At this point I was so embarrassed that I placed my head in my hands and cringed at what I was listening to!

Sitters were invited to dance with 'ol Satchmo!' One sitter got up and a Louis Armstrong song was played. Because of the distance from the cabinet I could not make out the sitter or whether she was dancing or whether she was dancing with another person. Another sitter danced with Louis using the same song.

Then something else caught my attention. Please refer back to the response by Pssst above where he comments:

Pssst Wrote:And Michael Jackson and Churchill and on and on and on and on - so what? Who is getting more attention in seance? Billy Boogers or John Lennon? And who is more verifiable? Theatrical? So what? Why not? Physical mediumship isn't supposed to be the same style of evidential animal as mental mediumship.

And on to another paragraph from the report, mentioning both Michael Jackson and John Lennon. Coincidence?

Quote:A younger sitter stood up to dance with Michael Jackson and a discussion took place with her afterwards. The spirit suggested that she was to nervous, hence why nothing occurred. She denied that she was and a John Lennon song was played and the spirit person suggested that she had danced with him (John Lennon). It would have been nice if John had introduced himself - I am a lifelong Beatles and Lennon fan and would have loved to have heard him in these conditions.

Finally, the user "mac" comments towards the end of the thread. Interesting that "mac" claimed to have been impersonated by MU!!

Quote:Mediumship has to be described as experimental and for entertainment (I think I'm right in saying) so the outcome is never something that can be guaranteed.  On that basis the event was successful even though it left at least one attendee unhappy.  Mediumship doesn't HAVE to provide evidence of survival or of identity or even of the involvement of deceased individuals.  Physical mediumship may be acceptable to some if it only provides phenomena.

That could have been written as a direct response to my comment above except that it preceded my comment by many months.

I do not make any clear distinction between mind and God. God is what mind becomes when it has passed beyond the scale of our comprehension.
