Flying Triangle UFOs

An interesting article by Nick Redfern on the "flying triangle" phenomenon.

Conclusion:

Quote:"Contrary to the popular belief perpetuated by elements of the world-wide UFO research community, we now know that sightings of the mysterious Flying Triangles have proliferated for, quite literally, decades: the forties, fifties and sixties. They are most assuredly not a relatively recent development. Had we – and by “we” I mean the collective Human Race – been designing, building and flying huge triangular-shaped, high-performance aircraft in the 1950s and 1960s, then surely they would not still be subject to an overwhelming blanket of secrecy to this very day. More likely, they would either have been put to regular use in a battlefield environment, or the projects would have been canceled as not being seen as ultimately viable. Either way, we would by now have widespread awareness of their existence, in much the same way that the existence of the famous U-2 spy-plane of the Cold War, and today’s F-117 Stealth Fighter and the B-2 Stealth bomber have been acknowledged. The fact that we do not have such awareness, however – and the fact that the UFO research community is still scratching its collective head as it seeks to resolve the puzzle – suggests strongly that the Flying Triangle has a far stranger point of origin. Those who seek a definitive answer to the conundrum of the Flying Triangle might be very wise to turn their attentions away from restricted military bases and firmly towards the distant heavens."

Over virtually the entire modern history of UFOs there have been many sightings of often huge "flying triangles". Because of their characteristics observed as far back as the late 1940s through the 1970s (long before it would have been even remotely possible that these things could have been experimental vehicles), the extraterrestrial hypothesis is the leading suggested explanation.

An exhaustive analysis of the extended multiple sightings of the Illinois Triangle UFO, Jan. 2000, where some of the best witnesses were police officers, is at http://dbarkertv.com/default2.htm .

Though it would be exciting, there's likely a down to earth explanation. The flying wing testing concept and testing dates  back to the 1920's.

These days I don't take any great interest in ufo phenomena. I'm neither for nor against anything - though photographic evidence tends to be weak, in  my opinion.

Still what I was going to say, years ago, maybe thirty years back, I used to dream of alien spacecraft from time to time, there was something overwhelmingly powerful about them. And the ships in my dreams were always triangular. I was actually shocked when I saw the film Independence Day, to see these 15-mile diameter circular craft. I thought, "well, they've got that wrong - don't they know they are triangular?!" Smile . Nowadays I wouldn't be so picky, I've not dreamed or thought much of these things for decades.

Perhaps one day we too will have technology that allows us to travel through dreams...how else will we explore that vast void outside our little blue ball?
'Historically, we may regard materialism as a system of dogma set up to combat orthodox dogma...Accordingly we find that, as ancient orthodoxies disintegrate, materialism more and more gives way to scepticism.'
