As regards the afterlife, that's not something that is within his remit (with these very rigorous high quality studies) to comment on. You have to draw your own conclusions, but I think it's remarkable that such a high percentage (nearly everyone) sees something very real (regularly) in every sense of the word (to them at least) which shouldn't be happening if there is nothing, surely. And then you have to add in the Peak in Darien experiences (he doesn't mention these but other studies have) which strongly suggest an afterlife for obvious reasons. I would say everything he said was consistent with the usual (on forums like this) description of death. I felt that perhaps he just didn't want to explore the metaphysical meaning of what he had documented. He did confirm terminal lucidity, but he had an ad hoc explanation for it. Regarding TL, if I remember correcltly, he mentioned something that sounded naturalistic about memories and smells and also something about TL being somewhat problematic because of the shock it induces in family members
I wasn't aware people had NDE like dreams up until the moment of death.
