Taking what seriously? The accounts on NDERF?

That some of them are posted by vandals doesn't mean that all of them are.

You don't have to justify B.S.

Again, that there is B.S. doesn't mean it's all B.S.

All that shows is that you can't always trust your feelings.

Bill, even the worst-case scenario (for those of us who acknowledge the reality of NDEs) in which the brain is active (to some degree) during NDEs still doesn't explain veridical NDEs. An active brain alone can't accurately perceive details that are beyond the scope of its physical sensory organs, even if those sensory organs are actively perceiving, which, in many (most? all?) of these cases, they aren't.

Now, you could choose to be a denialist like @sbu (among a host of others) and just wave all the evidence for veridical NDEs away - with, let's be clear, absolutely no sound justification: "anecdotes don't count and nor do the NDEs in prospective studies" is the real B.S. here  - because it's inconvenient to your worldview, but do you really want to be a denialist?

No trouble seeing , what I feel is the Absurdity in other things like big foot or lochness monster or people like Sylvia Browne but when it comes to uap ‘s and nde ‘s .. I want to believe , so I justify ..  but come on.

Should I believe in a flat earth at this point to? How it’s starting to feel … combined with some of the latest research on NDE’s, cardiac arrest, surges of activity , eeg still Being present , etc etc etc

Helpful tip, stop engaging in the content, go take a break and enjoy life, that's the whole lesson NDEs teach us anyway. The unfortunate things about topics like NDEs is that the study of them is a science and there's one bad thing about science: it's bloody slow. It's not often there's new content about NDEs nowdays and there's not likely to be considering how hard they are to study. So instead we go over the same old points that have been done in this thread, which can lead to you feeling all the more conflicted because it's a lot easier for the skeptical side about NDEs to stick in your side than the proponent side. Things like surges of activity, eeg still being present have been in the literature for a long time and have been responded to before, it's nothing new or interesting to people actually involved in NDE research. I like to think of it like this, are the people who have been the most involved in actual physical NDE research stressing over all these potentional theories like we do? If they don't why should we.

As for feeling absurd about believing in this stuff: don't. It's interesting phenomena with interesting research and the professionals who have been most involved with practical NDE research take it seriously, there's no reason for you to feel crazy for taking it seriously too just cause someone on reddit said oh NDEs are dumb or something.

Really this whole discussion reached it's climax when we nailed down that Aware 1 had a confirmed verical NDE and therefore they do exist and warrant further research. Everything else after that is just useless back and forth.

Edit: I should add that the NDE you linked to is very funny. There's always going to be weird people who are into NDEs and aren't all there, it comes with any type of niche topic. But as someone who has cared for older people and gone through some hellish prep for a colonoscopy, dehydration from several hours of diarrhea, the extreme pain it can cause and a bad head hit can definitely be a recipe for a very odd but real NDE like experience. Not to mention the stress it can put on the heart, there's a reason why so many oldies die on the toilet.
