Ahead of a big science conference in Northern California, we speak with Dr. Dean Radin, who after years of study came to believe that there might be something to psi phenomena.

I like this part, ironically when skeptics say something like this all's that heard are Bronx cheers.

Quote:Radin:." I think that idealism is a better fit to explaining psi phenomena than materialism, but it doesn't make sense to dismiss materialism because it's just been too successful. So I've put a spin on idealism that does not negate materialism, but rather expands it to become more inclusive and comprehensive.

That appears to be talking about methodological naturalism/materialism, which I'm sure many don't take much issue with, as opposed to metaphysical naturalism/materialism, which I don't think can be said to be "successful" given its subject matter.

I don't think all Dean Radin's views are necessarily those usually associated with psi proponents. He appears to be quite sceptical about personal post mortem survival, and conversely he seems quite happy with the idea of artificial intelligences attaining consciousness and even developing psychical powers.

In the PC Mag Australia interview, I was quite intrigued by the statement "A younger generation of scientists are changing their perception of the world, and many owe their boldness to the path forged by Dr. Dean Radin", and followed the link attached to "are changing". It took me to this interview on the same site, which didn't seem to have anything to do with psi, apart from perhaps a couple of references to "a collective consciousness". But maybe I'm missing something?

I always got the rub from other psi proponents who are convinced of survival and who worked with Dean that he is agnostic to the idea of post mortem survival and just isn't that interested. However, he does believe the evidence can't be as easily explained as skeptics wish it was by arguments like that it's all fraud, wishful thinking, etc. He's got it down to either being true survival or a thing of psi, but he'll let his colleagues work it out. He's not personally too interested.

I saw a quote of his where he basically says this but I forget where I saw it

In this recent interview by Adrian Nelson (starting about 36.00) he says that all the survival evidence looks like psi in the living to him (or perhaps communication with non-human discarnate beings). Certainly he says he doesn't know about survival one way or the other, but the tenor of what he says about dementia suggests he's not inclined to believe in personal survival and the survival of memories after death:
