Daily posting limit

Hi,

I am wondering if the forums can be configured to enforce a daily limit for the maximum numbert of posts allowed for a user.

It if it possible I would like to request that a limit be set and automatically enforced.

This is a terrible idea, even for posters who spam the forum with bullshit, mildly racist propaganda.

I don't watch TV because I don't like having to adjust my schedule to the tv station's schedule (i have an old analog set with a fat crt and a digital coverter box, and i don't get cable because I don't want to support fake news channels). I watch documentaries on youtube. I use an ad blocker so I don't ever see ads on youtube. I don't even use the youtube app on my android tablet, I go to the youtube web site with a browser so I can use an ad blocker. If I was watching tv and a lot of objectionable ads showed up I would change the channel or shut off the tv. The point is that I don't let technology run my life and I have a hard time understanding that people can allow it to run theirs to the point that it can upset them. Maybe that is why I have a hard time understanding the problem.

Neither of these threads has any real value or the possibility of affecting the community at large.

Jim is just acting up, he knows (hell, we *all* know) that the community will not support a daily limit. And the diatribe explaining why he changed his avatar definitely belonged within the hidden forum.

I'm surmising that the reason people wanted the political discussions restricted - apart from the fact they have little to do with the focus of this forum - was that they were bound to be controversial and perhaps might degenerate in a similar manner to the Skeptiko forum. So, with the full knowledge that there would be provocative posts and emotional responses, we were given the opportunity to participate by intentionally opting-in.

Therefore, it seems ironic to me that the most provocative participant posting the most controversial opinions and propaganda should be the one who is also complaining about not getting enough likes (in a now-deleted post), about people getting upset and about some non-existent "witch hunt" (his words, mimicking Trump) supposedly preventing him from airing his views. Of course, like much of his propaganda, there is no truth in that nor any justification for his complaints.

I think a posting limit would be counter productive and against the ethos of the forum. A little self awareness might go a long way though. We’ve all met the guy with a bee in his bonnet (one for the hatters there) over a particular issue. When he’s made his point several times but goes on and on about it all night, it gets boring and turns people off.
