Yes, I know, but the first thing that comes to mind is some kind of "OMG, aliens!" and the likes. I suspect it might have been some kind of experimental aircraft, still really interesting

Courtesy of Mysterious Universe, here's a recent summary of the current state of play concerning the claims about Elizondo and AATIP. In a nutshell, a Pentagon spokesperson Susan Gough is denying (as before) that Elizondo was the director of AATIP or had any "assigned responsibilities" within it. She's also denying that "when implemented" AATIP investigated "unidentified aerial phenomena," and saying that previous statements to the contrary originated with a spokesperson who is "no longer with my organization." And Elizondo did not return a request for comment:
