If they are bad enough, you could try acupuncture. I have had some amazing success that way.

I rarely have anything worth contributing, but I do still read.

Many of us have had much longer absences, Ian, no need to apologise for anything. Hope your problems soon resolve. Last October, (until about two or three weeks ago), within the space of around three days, I got hit by the most agonising and debilitating sciatica and I do mean agonising.

I've never experienced anything like it and ordinary painkillers wouldn't touch it. Couldn't sit down for more than a minute or two, couldn't lie down (at night) I had to sit on the bed. I wouldn't have believed it was possible to be in such discomfort from something so ordinary sounding. Sucks getting old.

I mean we could try to get more people aware of parapsychology but I think that is largely being done by all the documentaries on streaming platforms.

The general public may just need a crisper picture to change the paradigm.  Science uses models to frame processes.  There is no working model to support data collection revealing patterns unique  to Psi.

Psi needs a good meme to shake loose people's real feelings.

I’ve had great results from chiropracty for postural and neck problems.

Yeah, I'd strongly recommend these people for joint problems, postural problems, back problems, and intractable pain of all kinds.

For example, my partner went for treatment for foot arthritis. The guy started by examining each toe, and observing that one of them was out of line with the others. He then began to examine the muscles involved, and to adjust things with his acupuncture. The result was an almost immediate improvement.

If you go to the doctor with something like that, the doctor would probably take a cursory glance and prescribe pain killers - because osteoarthritis is supposed to be irreversible.

The process is cheap, fast, and is, I think, also an interesting hint that the range of alternate therapies - some of which seem to rely on psychic effects - really work.

There are a number of reasons why I don't post much.  One thing is that I find myself in an odd position where I want to be more involved in science discussions where I would actually be out of my depth.  Another is that I got lucky in my work.  I had been doing extra work for a company but some of the cooks and serving staff started nagging the boss, asking "Is Brian coming in today?"  They thought I was better than the guy they already had so in the end the boss decided to give me a 30 hour contract, so now I get very tired in my time off.

I am finding a lot of forums have slowed down now, and I have just left the only one that was moving because the moderator gave me a harsh PM about something that I posted innocently that he took as a challenge to his abilities as a moderator.  I just can't be in the same place as somebody who behaves like a disgruntled police officer with an axe to grind.

Funnily enough my GP at the time conceded that it was either pain killers or surgery for a neck problem which was causing unbearable headaches.  I asked what he thought about chiropracty and he said “give it a go”. I did. I worked and quickly. I’ve never had the pain since and go for regular tune-ups .

I’m a big fan of complimentary therapies. I’ve had some breathtaking results from acupuncture too but they don’t all work for all problems.

I wouldn’t worry about feeling out of your depths. I usually find if people can’t explain to you what they mean then often they don’t understand it either. We’re all seeking knowledge here I think. Asking questions, however dumb we may think they’ll sound, shouldn’t be a problem.
