The impossibility of mechanizing thought thus has nothing to do with recherche´ mathematical theorems, such as those proven by Go¨del and Rosser. A related point is that CTM involves, and is guilty of reinforcing, a misunderstanding of the concept of an algorithm.

However, it seems to me that several other arguments haved already been successfully made to disprove the computational theory of mind. I think the best argument starts with the observation that computation is all that computers can possibly do since that is the core or essence of their operation, and accordingly, executing algorithms (formal procedures of data processing accomplishing computational procedures of various kinds) is absolutely all the computers can do. But the properties of mind or consciousness are immaterial (such as thought, reasoning, emotion, subjective awareness, intentionality, qualia etc.) and therefore can't be reduced to algorithms. In fact these two kinds of things are in entirely separate existential categories. Therefore mind cannot be computation and the theory of that is wrong.
