As I mentioned elsewhere, Goff has converted to what in his words is a "heretical form" of Christianity.
I wish him well, and think his personal faith is a private matter. However, the road he followed I think has some philosophical significance. Only a few years ago his Panpsychism was merely consciousness within physical structure, and he was insistent that mechanistic explanation sufficed for everything but consciousness.
I figured gathering some of his writings, as well as commentary by others, would have philosophical value, starting with his relevant Aeon pieces in chronological order:
Panpsychism is crazy, but it’s also most probably true
Is the Universe a conscious mind?
Purposeful universe
My leap across the chasm

Quote:Cosmopsychism might seem crazy, but it provides a robust explanatory model for how the Universe became fine-tuned for life
Purposeful universe
Quote:Neither atheism nor theism adequately explains reality. That is why we must consider the middle ground between the two
My leap across the chasm
Quote:After years of debate and contemplation, I’ve come to think a heretical form of Christianity might be true. Here’s why
'Historically, we may regard materialism as a system of dogma set up to combat orthodox dogma...Accordingly we find that, as ancient orthodoxies disintegrate, materialism more and more gives way to scepticism.'
