It's interesting to look at the trends with time of this.

Quote:Canadian poll data showing belief in life after death has remained largely steady since the 1960s, with between 60 and 66 per cent of respondents saying they believed in some kind of experience after death.

This appears to indicate that at least in Canada the culture war between scientism and belief in the soul and an afterlife has remained in a kind of deadlock for a long time, despite the growing mass of evidence for paranormal phenomena, and the trend is not toward a paranormal and or religious future. Well, at least in that country the closed-minded physicalists aren't winning the battle for hearts and minds. My guess is that the statistics would be similar for the U. S.
