Many nights went by without experiencing an OBE. I just couldn't clear my mind enough or I would fall asleep instead. One night though I experienced what I think was a very short OBE, but I'm not entirely sure. A few minutes after turning in for the day, I felt a weird sensation followed by what seemed like a dream yet I was aware throughout it. I was floating above my bed and noticed my cat sleeping beside me. I floated over to him and quickly poked him. He immediately jumped and stared in the location I was floating. His jump quickly woke me up and I turned to see if he was truly there and sure enough he was. He was sitting where I saw him, wide awake looking around the room with eyes as wide as saucers. I haven't been able to experience anything like it since. I believe you are right. I may need to start meditating with hopes of calming my mind. That's interesting - having the cat as an independent witness to what happened. Pets may be better than other humans in situations like this, most humans would not notice such a presence - though I recall Brian (forum member here) reported feeling being poked by an unseen hand.

Could have just as easily been a cucumber. (2019-08-22, 11:25 PM)Steve001 Wrote: How does he know it was a hand when unseen. Could have just as easily been a cucumber. I wonder if ghost cucumbers make good ghost pickles, or if they work well in dips for ghost pepper chicken wings?

We have spirit guides, but we are not always conscious of them. And then there are those who pose as spirit guides but who are really low level agents getting off on creating dependency and feeding on that energy. Intentionally seeking a spirit guide is a dangerous practice for this reason. The Siren Call of Hungry Ghosts by Joe Fisher is a highly recommended sobering read for those tempted.
Generally speaking a sincere effort at spiritual growth is a necessary foundation. Wanting spirit guides as some kind of sign you are on the right path is foolish. Things don't work that way. If you are sincere in your efforts you will get warnings if you are going astray. Generally we get what we need, and if that includes being consciously aware of a spirit guide, it will happen. Otherwise it won't, and that's okay. Let me be clear. There's no real status in knowing you have a guide. The idea that you get good stuff from spirits over folk in the flesh is naive nonsense. If you are open to learning you will take it from anywhere. If you are sufficiently humble a child or a pet will teach you. There's that old saying ' when the student is ready, the teacher will come.' That's not your choice. You don't get to say when you are ready. As a rule, if you think you are ready, you aren't. And if you are thinking about whether you are you are not. And another thing ... Real spirit guides are not buddies who tell you about your past lives and give you advice and encouragement to make you feel good. They are hard task masters. One I had the honour to engage with for a few years was blunt - "I am not come to tell you things. I am come to teach you how to think." That happened, to some extent. I suggest you look at the idea of spirit guides and drop the spirit bit. Be guided by your own integrity, which, if it is sincere, will respond to deep and benign influence. You will always attract the company you merit. If you want quality company, be worthy of it. |
