Nanci Danison: creating reality or the law of attraction?

8 Replies, 1873 Views

NDEr Nanci Danison has a new book out this week, Create a New Reality: Move Beyond Law of Attraction Theory, where she distinguishes, I gather, what she learned about what our abilities are in this regard, based on what information she accessed during her NDE, from what usually is involved in the New Age "law of attraction" "theory".

She goes into it in this new interview:

I don't know if someone can help me here. Nanci proposes meditating a few moments as a context in which to focus on what you want to create in your life.

I'm only familiar with types of meditation where you make your mind empty. Does anyone have an idea of how to go about something like this?

Hi, Ian. Just my two cents for what it's worth. Isn't she just referring to getting it clear in your own mind what you (truly) want or truly think you want ? So that wouldn't be meditation ? That would just be focusing ...which as you say is not meditation as I understand it ? Personally, I'm not mad on Nanci's existential pronouncements, I'm only certain that consciousness continues and that I've been here before. As an aside, I have (finally) learned that we can choose to stop thinking negative thoughts and it really does work but that's about it for me.

Maybe you're right Tim.

But I've looked around and found indications of how to integrate affirmations into meditation by meditating through emptying thought for 15 minutes or so, and then at that point, having achieved a more relaxed state, adding an affirmation, mantra-style.

Her message for the new year, in her newsletter (you can subscribe here):

Quote:I hope you will take a moment this new year to reflect upon your life and consider whether you might be ready for some of the following beliefs I picked up in heaven:

I believe Source created me as a special, much loved, integral part of itself. When I put myself down, I'm essentially saying that Source is no good.

I believe we are all equal within Source. The color of my current human host's skin, my body's age, my religious beliefs, and my sexual preference do not change the fact that I am equal to everyone else because we are all one Source.

I believe love is my true innate spiritual nature. I want to demonstrate that truth through my actions.

I believe Source's love is constant, regardless of what I do. But I am responsible for my actions here on Earth and I, and others, suffer the physical and emotional consequences of my choices. I will try my best to act from love instead of emotional damage.

I believe I do not have to be a slave to my human host's likes, dislikes, motivations or emotions. I can exercise my spiritual free will to train my body to act less like an animal and more like me.

I believe acts of loving kindness can change the manifested physical world.

I believe my truths are inside me. I will know spiritual truth when I hear it because it will resonate with me and fill me with love, not fear.

I've always had problems with meditation and specifically with clearing my mind. I attended a talk given by a visiting Buddhist monk and told him of my problems. He said that while he and his fellow monks spend years learning techniques to still the mind and stop the chatter, meditation can take many forms. For example, going for a walk and just letting the scenery envelop your senses is a form of meditation. Doing a jigsaw puzzle, studying a work of art, watching your baby (or, in my case, grandchild) interact with the world. In other words, meditation does not have a strict definition.

My understanding of creativity is that you will manifest your deepest beliefs - not your superficial wants and cravings. So meditation is a means by which you can reach the depths of your belief system and, if those beliefs are negative, begin to work on them and change them for the better.
I do not make any clear distinction between mind and God. God is what mind becomes when it has passed beyond the scale of our comprehension.
