Follow-up thread for discussing existential thoughts, fears and advice

I'm not sure what thoughts spring to mind here. I'm drawn to different ideas. Maybe someone who goes around looking for a fight. Or maybe an evangelist  for some faith, seeking to convert the pagans. Or someone who is a fan of some type of music feigning shock at discovering the most popular music is something else entirely. Or someone who goes into the midst of a crowd and wishes for solitude. I don't know, I just get the impression that you go out looking for trouble, then complain when you get it.

The idea that the 'others' should go away is misguided, this life is about learning to live alongside others who are different to ourselves. Societies with just a single belief system can be heaven or hell, depending on whether on fits in or feels an outsider. At least our world has variety, we are not limited to a monoculture. Evangelising, spreading one's ideology, that's never going to be trouble-free, and often seems misguided with the benefit of hindsight.

I think you need to decide what it is you want. Is it peace and contentment, or stirring things up? It seems to me you want both.

I understand I cannot expect everyone to conform even to similar beliefs. What I do not understand is why ridicule and mockery over even the slightest belief in the paranormal has become the norm online on many platforms. That's what I cannot tolerate, and that is what I have come to witness.

I was not 'looking for trouble' when I first got obsessed with this stuff. It is unfortunate to me that I must accept that there are people out there targeting people like me, people who agree with me. I have to change of course. I know that. But I wish 'the world' would change too in how they approach the topics discussed here.

On social media, there is a very prevalent example of this I have seen for years now, even prior to my current situation. This example is the blatant double-standard I have seen for people with mental health who happen to have spiritual beliefs, such as myself. Everyone's on board with helping people who aren't doing well mentally/emotionally...unless they're religious, even moderately or slightly so; even if they're spiritual in some way. A lot of people in my experience seem to think that only those who don't have many, or any, beliefs can suffer from mental health problems like anxiety and depression.

It may be a grim outlook to have, but I find it a realistic one:

Chances are, a comment that one can make mocking/shaming/ridiculing/bullying someone for a largely (if not completely) harmless religious or spiritual belief/philosophy is made out of shallow ignorance.

Chances are, all kinds of people could be watching and have read that comment, or watched that video, or seen that post, including several who hold that belief but have mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, a lack of self-confidence etc.

Chances are, that the person who made that comment may therefore have been responsible for someone being 'pushed over the edge' so to speak by whatever they posted.

Do I believe most people think about these things? No, of course not. In my opinion though, they should.
